Theme 5 June
Set in Scene: How Architecture Shapes Stories and vice versa

Cinema does not merely depict spaces – it constructs it. Through set design, space becomes a narrative device, shaping mood, movement, and meaning. Architecture and film share a common goal: the shaping of space, time, and perception.

Films therefore have the power to influence the perception of architectural spaces but also the other way round. On the other hand, once a building or area is depicted in an iconic series or movie, it can have a revival as a destination (or worst case become a “tourist trap” like Dubrovnik after the Game of Thrones). During the upcoming Barcam we will debate whether architectural space can define a narrative and how cinema in turn shapes the way we perceive and design our built environment.

QUIZ TIME!
Be there and make sure to come prepared, because me will test your knowledge of architecture featured in movies!
