To celebrate the completion of the National Holocaust Memorial in the Weesperplantsoen in Amsterdam, Arcam and Atelier Rijksbouwmeester are organising a lecture with architect Daniel Libeskind, followed by a discussion with Libeskind and Floris Alkemade in De Balie on 18 September 2021 at 15.00.

Tickets to watch the livestream are available now!
Tickets to attend the lecture live at De Balie are sold out.

The national monument is located in the heart of the Jewish Quarter in Weesperplantsoen. A labyrinth of corridors of two-metre high brick walls contain 102,000 stones with the names of all the Dutch victims of the Holocaust. These brick walls bear four mirrored stainless steel Hebrew letters, which together mean ‘in memoriam’. For the elaboration of the design, Libeskind worked together with Johan van Lierop and Rijnboutt architectural firm.

In December 2017, the Polish-Jewish architect Libeskind presented the design for the monument together with the Dutch Auschwitz Committee, after which Arcam organised a sold-out lecture in collaboration with the Dutch Auschwitz Committee in De Duif in February 2018. Now the Holocaust Names Memorial is nearing completion.

The unveiling will take place Sunday afternoon 19 September in private, but can be followed in full via a live broadcast by the NOS.
