Visit, play and learn from the gamedevelopers of Playing Architecture on Sunday April 23rd. Have a look behind the screens of the exhibition, meet the game makers and try games you can only play today.

Are you an architecture professionals and interested in playing games? Or are you an ardent gamer with a love for architecture? Then come and visit the Playing Architecture Gameday! Also suitable for kids aged between 12 and 18.

Programme

Visit Arcam at a time of your choice between 1-5pm, or compose your afternoon with the programme below.

Please note: sign up for Virtual River Game and Delft Campus Urban Game by buying a separate ticket + timeslot. Do you only want a tour, a short game or to visit the exhibition? Then a gallery ticket is sufficient, also available on the day itself at Arcam.

-> Media artist Roos Groothuizen gives an explanation of the origins and creation of Ode to Frances, a detective game set in a modern smart home, designed just for Arcam.
-> Curator Mélanie van der Hoorn gives tours of the exhibition.
-> Architect Dafne Wiegers gives an explanation of her work and the common ground between architecture and games.

About the games

1# Virtual River Game by Robert-Jan den Haan (SOLD OUT)

What happens to river landscapes if there is a sudden influx of water? How can we react to that? The Virtual River Game showcases river management. Discover what happens when you move a dike or dig a new trench, discuss with other players and immerse yourself in this innovative game that combines analog and digital!

Game session lasts 45 minutes for a maximum of 5 players.

3# VR Urban Underground Game

The ground underneath Amsterdam is getting crowded. The current climate challenges will require more and more underground pipes. The Virtual Reality game developed by (former) HvA students Jeroen Officier, Quinn Koene and Daniel Vermeulen give a view below ground level. A maximum of five players compete to call themselves the best pipe builder!

Game session lasts 5 minutes for a maximum of 5 players.

4# Game Team Liquid

Anyone who likes gaming will undoubtedly know Team Liquid. They are a leading worldwide professional esports organisation. During the game day Team Liquid will present a game, developed by Brainsfirst, that can measure a player’s cognitive skills. While you’re doing your best to reach the high score, this test is measuring how you react to mistakes, focus and multitask.

Game session lasts 5 minutes for one player.
