In a Talk of the Town exhibition, we highlight a building, decision or event in Amsterdam that is shaping today’s public conversation.
In 2026, Pure Data Centers will build Amsterdam’s largest data centre in the Westelijk Havengebied. The complex will consist of three towers of 85 metres each, with 26 megawatts of data capacity per tower and a total floor area of 100,000 square metres.
The arrival of the new data centre raises questions and reignites the debate about data centres in the Amsterdam region. Why are so many data centres locating here? How much electricity do they consume, and what does this mean for the overloaded Dutch power grid? What is the influence of artificial intelligence (AI)? And which clients use these data centres?
In this mini-exhibition, you will learn more about the impact of data centres on the built environment in Amsterdam.
