Platforms, smart systems and community applications are increasingly part of the architectural design process, catering both practical and social needs. How does design contribute to the happiness of inhabitants of smart buildings and neighbourhoods?

Programme

Filippo Lodi (UNSense), Lars van Vianen (Scape Agency) and Marthijn Pool (Space&Matter) will introduce their applications for happy neighbourhoods in three short lectures, followed by a panel discussion.

Lars van Vianen

Founding designer Scape Agency. Lars van Vianen is a meta-designer and founding director of Scape Agency. Proceeding from a background in interactive art, experience design and parametric architecture, Lars explores the convergence of synthetic biology, materials science, artificial intelligence and robotic construction.

Associate Director at UNStudio, Leading UNSx, UNStudio's think tank and experience lab, a team of multidisciplinary talents. Filippo has more than 15 year of experience in Design, Technology and Innovation. Currently leading UNSx, UNStudio's in-house innovation thinktank and experience lab, a team of multidisciplinary talents, to devise spaces, products, services and strategies that push the boundaries of what is possible in the way we live, work and play.

Marthijn Pool

Founding partner, director Space&Matter. Marthijn Pool is architectural entrepreneur based in Amsterdam. In 2009 he joins Tjeerd Haccou and Sascha Glasl in founding Space&Matter. In the development of Space&Matter's Business Ecosystem Marthijn has been responsible for the emergence of multiple new business ventures.

Indira van ’t Klooster is als directeur verantwoordelijk voor de inhoudelijke en zakelijke koers van Arcam. Met het 5D ExpoLab geeft zij leiding aan een reeks experimenten over hoe open data, digitale tools en maquettes een ontwerpinstrument kunnen zijn in het ontwerpen en bediscussiëren van toekomstige ontwerpopgaven. Als voorzitter van de stichting Lokale Architectuur Initiatieven (cOLA) werkt ze samen met AiR (Rotterdam), ABC (Haarlem), het Instituut Rijksbouwmeester (Francesco Veenstra), Architectuur Lokaal (Cilly Jansen) en een groeiend netwerk van lokale architectuurinitiatieven, aan een slagkrachtiger, landelijk architectuurnetwerk. In Pakhuis de Zwijger presenteert zij Architecture Now, over actuele thema’s in de architectuur. Ook is zij de auteur van Reactivate! Vernieuwers van de Nederlandse architectuur.
