Accessibility

Architecture for everyone. That should be the norm. That’s why Arcam continuously strives to make the gallery as accessible as possible for all visitors.

General Facilities
  • There is a wheelchair-accessible toilet on the lower floor.
  • An elevator provides access to all three floors.
  • Assistance dogs are welcome.
  • Caregivers enter for free.
  • There is no tactile map or audio tour available yet.
  • Starting in March 2024, Arcam will feature a tactile model of the pavilion, created by Hannes Walraven.
General Efforts for Accessibility
  • Acoustics: Improved with textiles in the gallery space.
  • Readability: Text plaques are designed for readability and visibility.
  • Color Contrast: Enhanced color contrast in the space improves navigation, especially for those with visual impairments or color blindness.
  • Glass Door Markings: The Arcam pavilion contains a lot of glass. The glass doors are marked for better visibility and safety.
  • Rest Areas: Several rest and seating areas are created within the exhibition.
  • Exhibition Texts: All texts will soon be available for download so you can listen to or read them before your visit.

Visitors with Mobility Aids or Wheelchairs
  • Door widths at Arcam vary from 85-100 cm. The entrance hall measures 1.90m x 1.90m. No wheelchairs are available for loan. Contact Arcam for an alternative entrance.
  • On the lower floor, you will find both regular and wheelchair-accessible toilets. The wheelchair-accessible toilet, measuring 2 by 2m, is on the left side when arriving from the stairs or elevator.
  • There are no folding stools, rollators, or walking sticks available for loan.
Blind and Visually Impaired Visitors
  • Assistance dogs, on a leash, are welcome.
  • Stairs are marked.
  • All exhibition texts will soon be available for download so you can listen to or read them before your visit.
  • Videos in the exhibitions have audio (NL/EN) but do not include audio description.
  • Tactile Model: Arcam produced a tactile model of the building and the surroundings, designed by Hannes Walraven, with audio and descriptions.
Doven en slechthorende bezoekers
  • Het filmmateriaal in de tentoonstelling is voorzien van ondertiteling (NL/EN).
  • Alle tentoonstellingsteksten zijn binnenkort te downloaden, zodat je ze kunt beluisteren of lezen voorafgaand aan je bezoek.

  • Exhibition films are subtitled (NL/EN).
