General Efforts for Accessibility
  • Acoustics: Improved with textiles in the gallery space.
  • Readability: Text plaques are designed for readability and visibility.
  • Color Contrast: Enhanced color contrast in the space improves navigation, especially for those with visual impairments or color blindness.
  • Glass Door Markings: The Arcam pavilion contains a lot of glass. The glass doors are marked for better visibility and safety.
  • Rest Areas: Several rest and seating areas are created within the exhibition.
  • Exhibition Texts: All texts will soon be available for download so you can listen to or read them before your visit.

Visitors with Mobility Aids or Wheelchairs
  • Door widths at Arcam range from 85 to 100 cm, and the entrance hall measures 1.9 x 1.9 m. A wheelchair is available upon request; please contact Arcam if an alternative entrance is needed.
  • The lower floor features both standard and wheelchair-accessible restrooms. The accessible restroom (2 x 2 m) is located to the left when coming from the stairs or elevator.
  • Please note that folding stools, rollators, and walking sticks are not available for loan.
Tactile Audio Model

Arcam produced a tactile model of the building and the surroundings, designed by Hannes Walraven, with audio and descriptions.

Directions

Arcam is located at Prins Hendrikkade 600 in Amsterdam, between the NEMO Science Museum and the Maritime Museum, opposite Kadijksplein.

The building is on the north side of the street, along the water of the Oosterdok. Searching by house number can be tricky, as the numbers between 194 and 600 do not exist.

Always check the current traffic information before you depart at Amsterdam Traffic Information.

On Foot

From Amsterdam Central, turn left onto Oosterdokskade. Walk along the water and over the bridge towards NEMO Science Museum. Cross the Oosterdok in front of the NEMO entrance and continue along the water. You will find Arcam on your left. It’s about a 15-minute walk.

Public Transport

From Amsterdam Central, Arcam can be reached by bus 22 and bus 48 (stop Kadijksplein).

By Car

  • From the North: Ring A10, exit 16 Noord/Centrum, left onto Prins Hendrikkade after the IJ tunnel, then left across Prins Hendrikkade towards the waterfront.
  • From All Other Directions: Ring A10, exit 14 Zeeburg, left towards Zeeburg/Centrum, straight through Piet Heintunnel, right onto Piet Heinkade after the tunnel, left at the second traffic lights, under the railway, then right onto Prins Hendrikkade. Arcam is immediately on the right after the bridge.

Parking

  • Disabled Parking: Arcam does not have a designated disabled parking space. Check Amsterdam Disabled Parking Map for an overview of nearby disabled parking spaces.
  • Oosterdok Parking: The nearest parking garage, open 24 hours a day.
