During the Amsterdam Architecture Month, we hand over the keys of the Arcam pavilion. All events and exhibitions are initiated and organised by others, under the supervision of Arcam.
About the pop-up exhibition
The head of Java Island is a unique spot with phenomenal views of the IJ. Politicians have determined that the head will remain free of building unless there is an absolutely world-class plan that convinces everyone.
Ceck out the sensational plans launched over the past 25 years, such as office towers, mega hotels, bridges, eco-cathedrals and statues of freedom during Amsterdam Architecture Month 2023. Come visit and see for yourself whether there is a winning plan among them.
In 2017, 45 students from the Academy of Architecture had thrown themselves into the task of designing a Statue of Liberty for Amsterdam on the head van Java Isand with a practical and idealistic purpose. All the designs were on display at Arcam in 2017 in the Statue of Liberty Amsterdam exhibition, including Equilibrium by Elena Staskute.
